Volunteer Program
Volunteers play an important role in helping to carry out the mission of Kids Like Us (KLU).
Do you love to cook, create works of art, conduct science experiments, work with pottery, play guitar or piano, read aloud, sew, knit, crochet, work in the Enchanted Gardens or UNO? If so, there's a place for you at KLU. Perhaps you like to work “behind the scenes” to organize, prepare materials, or help clean. Pro bono volunteers, such as physicians, therapists who specialize in speech, occupational or physical development, who provide services at no charge, would be valuable to our members. Volunteering allows you opportunities to make new friends, learn new skills, connect to your community and make it a better place, and benefit you and your family.
Volunteering as a family has many worthwhile benefits. Children watch everything you do. By giving back to the community, you show them firsthand how volunteering makes a difference and how good it feels to help others. Students who volunteer may develop a lifelong dedication to community support or even decide on a career path.
Faith-based organizations often have volunteer youth groups and members of their congregations may donate time during the week to help maintain the facilities and organize programs.
Giving your time, talent and interest to the members of KLU can make a real difference in the lives of children and young adults with special needs, as well as to their families.
